For the Second Consecutive Year, City of Dublin Earns Rare ‘Triple Crown’ Award

(Dublin, OH) For the second year in a row, the City of Dublin earned the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Triple Crown Award which recognizes governments that have received GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award within the same fiscal year.

According to the GFOA, the Triple Crown designation represents a significant achievement in which each entity must meet the high standards of all three separate award programs that each recognize governments for producing reports that communicate their financial stories in a transparent manner and meet applicable standards. The City of Dublin’s financial reports are accessible via the City’s website.

“This recognition from the GFOA is a validation of the City’s commitment to fiscal health, accountability and transparency,” says City of Dublin Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance Matt Stiffler. “I appreciate my team’s efforts to make this recognition possible for the second year in a row and am proud of our ongoing exemplary fiscal stewardship in service to our community.”

The three awards included in the Triple Crown honor are:

  • Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting recognizes state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
  • Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award honors state and local governments that extract information from their annual comprehensive financial report to produce high-quality popular annual financial reports specifically designed to be readily accessible and easily understandable to the general public and other interested parties without a background in public finance and then to recognize individual governments that are successful in achieving that goal.
  • Distinguished Budget Presentation Award recognizes state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
